![]() ![]() ![]() But the bank broke and with the loss of dividends and the stock drop that it took, JS squeaked past me on the final Operating Round. More deadly, I misjudged the end game and withheld dividends for the GER with the intention of tokening so it could run two trains (and start double/triple jumping on the stock market). In fact, I got so fixated on what I was going to do with the GER and about getting runs into London that would avoid LNWR's piddly home station, I failed to capitalize on routes in the North. ![]() I bought the GER with the intentions of plundering it of cash and dumping it on JS (the only other investor), but with nothing to better to invest in, decided to keep it and just run a 3-train out of London. He pretty much locked down the North of the map and was using Liverpool and Birmingham for great runs. JS shook things up though, selling down his portfolio to open the L&YR and the overlooked NER and rushing the trains. And I was happy to let them run 2-trains and 3-trains while JR and JS had no directorships. ![]() I was quite happy to have them both as they could work pretty well together in the central area of the board. Because of the set order that companies become available for purchase, I ended up the director of two of the three starting companies: the LNWR and the Midlands. Game: 1825 was a two unit affair with four of us. Anyway, I need to get those two out of their comfort zones so take advantage of some of the card synergies out there that require multi-sphere decks. The Khazad-dûm cycle encouraged Dwarf decks. So you could theme a deck around Hobbits. For example, some of the Hobbit heroes from this saga, get bonuses based on the number of other Hobbits in play. One thing that we discussed after the game is that maybe it's time that S and K stop playing mono-sphere decks and play multi-sphere themed decks instead. I'm just sorry we can't play it more frequently than the one time a month K can escape his wife and kids to come over. The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Black Riders was our first play of this new saga set. ![]()
